Capturing Dreams- A Night of Art and Fun!

Last night expats and locals of Chiang Mai joined us by the masses at Documentary Arts Asia to support and learn about the mission of Art Relief International. The event was a huge success, bringing together old friends and new faces that had never heard of ARI. We were thrilled to see so many enthusiastic guests.

Last night expats and locals of Chiang Mai joined us by the masses at Documentary Arts Asia to support and learn about the mission of Art Relief International. The event was a huge success, bringing together old friends and new faces that had never heard of ARI. We were thrilled to see so many enthusiastic guests.

With free food provided by Three Little Pigs, and music by the band Smooth, everyone was able to enjoy the atmosphere, look at the work of our artist, try a Canvas Cocktail, and watch videos regarding our work and mission. The occasion also included henna tattoos by our volunteer Kate, as well as a craft table where guests could make their own dream catchers in theme with the night “Capturing Dreams.”

Outside DAA as you approached the gallery space; we featured a public art project called Before I Die, a global project in public spaces around the world where anyone is invited to contribute by writing a personal dream or ambition on a chalkboard wall. Very inspiring and interactive!

During the evening we put on a documentary for guests to stop and view as they moved about the gallery space that shares a similar view on art as ARI does. The short documentary was called, “Untitled:” and features a Burmese painter who uses art to tell his story.
Together with our volunteers, we were able to raise money and awareness about Art Relief International, and everyone had a blast!

Special thank you’s to Documentary Arts Asia, Three Little Pigs, Smooth, and to our wonderful fundraising intern, Julia Stafford!

Happy volunteers!
